Dave Sharp - News Archive

October 2010 - LATEST NEWS--Reports from Dave's Album Sessions

During breaks from the never-ending acoustic tour, work on the new Dave Sharp album seems to be progressing apace. Backing tracks are now completed and the album is moving into the next phase of production. A working title for the album seems to be surfacing. Dave has been over-heard in the studio referring to a vision for the album being a spiritual bridge. During our visits to the studio we've heard Dave refer again and again to the album using the phrase "The Bridge." This would make sense given that we feel this next album is an important one and ought to serve as a bridge between Dave's extensive acoustic work and the emergence of the Roots Band.

We recently spoke with Dave who indicated that now backing tracks are completed in the studio he would be taking a brief break from recording to go on the road for a short series of dates to "challenge his electric guitar playing skills in a live format." We've noticed that he's currently listed as performing with a show called "Rocked the 80s." Details on this are a little sketchy at the moment as Dave couldn't be reached for comment. We'll bring more information to you as soon as we have it. It would seem at present this move may have to be placed under the "What's Happening?" file.

From the music we've been able to hear with our ears pressed against the studio door, we can report that this looks like being a very exciting album. We've heard some wonderful noises emanating from the boiler room at the studio in Manchester.
