REMEMBER TO TUNE IN SUNDAY FOR THE SAVE OUR VENUES ALL-DAYER. START TIME 4PM. LEND YOUR SUPPORT IN ANY WAY YOU CAN.
DAVE TAKES PART IN THE SAVE OUR VENUES CAMPAIGN
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of premier Midlands UK music venue, Katie Fitzgeralds, Dave Sharp will be appearing on a pre edited virtual gig on Sunday June 14th alongside many great artists from the region as part of the nationwide Save Our Venues Campaign. This show will go out simultaneously on YouTube and Facebook.
Dave's slot on the event will feature a video clip live performance of Bob Dylan's The Ballad of Hollis Brown recorded by Andy Heaton on his slightly wobbly iPhone during an Up Close and Personal show at The Barnoldswick Music and Arts Centre late last year.
For this show Dave, on acoustic guitar, was accompanied by Shrugg on bass guitar and Martin on stripped down drums and features, if you watch very closely, The Guy On The Right, quite possibly Hollis Brown himself!!!
Here is a detailed description of the event issued by the Katie Fitzgeralds team along with links for tickets and show billing.
Join us on the 14th June as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of Katie Fitzgeralds with a virtual gig. Due to the current lockdown we are of course unable to celebrate this milestone in the normal fashion but we have gathered together performance videos and messages of support from many of the artists that have performed at Katie's over the last twenty years.
This event will go out as an edited virtual gig on YouTube and Facebook on the 14th June at 4pm. We have videos and messages of support from Bryan Travers of UB40, Miles Hunt from the WonderStuff, Bryan Tatler of Diamondhead, Suzanne Vega, Dave Sharp, Kevin Rowland (Dexy's Midnight Runners), Tom Stade, Paul Sinha, Lost Voice Guy, Robb Johnson, Attila the Stockbroker, plus many, many more.
We also have a range of merchandise available including 20th anniversary T-shirts on our website and band camp page.
All money from sales will go to help ensure that Katie Fitzgerald as a venue survives and reopens once the Coronavirus crisis and the lockdown is over. We wish all our customers, artists , friends the very best for the future stay safe and we will see you on the other side.

HAPPY EASTER WHEREVER YOU ARE FROM DAVESHARP.ORG
As we move into Easter Weekend 2020 its encouraging to see a little light ahead from the daily briefings regarding the trends in Covid 19 numbers although, as were told, Its too early yet to draw any conclusions regarding an end game.
STAY AT HOME AND STAY SAFE THIS EASTER !!
Its great to hear that testing for the virus is gathering momentum and excellent to see more hospital capacity coming online as we all maintain lockdown advice this weekend.
We are being blessed with some fine Easter weather over the holiday weekend which will hopefully add to a feeling that somehow well all see these times through to a better place.
With the beginnings of a small feeling of optimism this April we must all, once again, give a huge thanks to the NHS and also to all key frontline workers everywhere who continue to work selflessly to bring us all through.
It was great to see such an enthusiastic response to Daves appearance with Mike and Jules Peters on last weeks Big Night In and also heres a huge thank you to all who tuned in to Daves Facebook page on the Sunday for the Strummercamp Watch Party. We are hoping to have some news on more footage from Daves live shows to be streamed soon, stay tuned.
Wed like to send a special thank you to Mr Eric Levell who filmed the show footage and generously provided it to us here for Sundays broadcast. Many thanks to you Eric. Were also sending grateful appreciation to Mr Gary Overington who provided the photo for the Watch Party trailer. Many thanks indeed Gary.
The photo was taken during Daves tour of North Devon late last Summer before a show in the coastal town of Appledore. We do knott know the name of the young lady sunbathing at the end of the street in the shot but thank you whoever and wherever you are.
We are hoping you will all be able to tune in to show support for the Children in Need, Comic Relief Partnership charity event later this month. We are all very much looking forwards here at davesharp.org and we hope you will be there too. It should be a fine thing indeed.
Once again, have a very enjoyable time this weekend and we wish that you will all have a very safe and Happy Easter from davesharp.org
Stay Safe and Stay At Home !!

WEEKEND WATCH PARTY NEWS
Dave will make an appearance on the Mike Peter's "Big Night In" on the Saturday evening 4th April 9pm broadcast. Dave and Mike will be reminiscing The Alarm's memorable1987 Cardiff Arms Park show opening for U2 on the Joshua Tree tour.
During the broadcast Dave is expected to announce the release of rare Dave Sharp concert footage to be broadcast during a Watch-Party on Dave's Face Book page on Sunday evening 5th April at 8pm.
The footage is taken from an appearance at the 2007 Strummer-Camp festival where Dave performed with Manchester band Dr Mandrake.
The following information has been supplied to compliment the footage.
DAVE SHARP LIVE AT STRUMMERCAMP 2007
RAW UNPROCESSED LIVE FOOTAGE OF DAVE SHARP AND DR MANDRAKE.
Dave Sharp and Dr Mandrake gathered together a couple of days before their appearance on the bill at Strummercamp 2007.
After a threadbare 4 hour rehearsal session they performed a full set on the Saturday morning early breakfast slot at 10am as folks were waking up after an amazing Friday night festival opening.
Festival goers woke up in their tents to the sound of the band and gathered together during the course of the performance.
The footage is unedited and unprocessed and the band is captured in real time...glitches and all..!!!
It is an exciting, candid and accurate representation of a show designed as a tribute to the late and great Mr Joe Strummer.

WRITES DAVE WRITES DAVE WRITES DAVE WRITES
Hey everybody, hope youve all had a great 2019 Summer despite the weather being very unpredictable.
Its been a busy time here none the less with amazing shows throughout July and August during runs down to Devon Kent and a long run up to the Highlands.
The Devon shows were marked with plenty of sunshine and it was great to see a good number of familiar faces along the way. The trip was made all the more interesting with a run out to Stockbridge for a debut appearance at the Chickenstock Festival which featured an excellent bill of songwriters from both the UK and the USA. Chickenstock is a fairly new Festival finding its feet as a meeting ground for a wide range of musicians from around the globe. It was a super day and folks enjoyed a warm and friendly atmosphere with great music being the watchword.
Following the Devon run it was all points North for a lengthy trip to Scotland and The Highlands.
Along the way I was very excited to be on the bill for my first performance at the Rebellion Festival at The Winter Gardens in Blackpool at the beginning of August on the opening night of the weekends events on the Thursday evening.
Not knowing what to expect I decided to arrive mid afternoon to take in the vibe and I have to say I was completely blown away. It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces and good friends amongst a very packed Winter Garden. It was a super fantastic atmosphere with so many different stages within the complex. I was due to appear on the Nearly Acoustic Stage that evening at 8pm and after checking in with indomitable Huggie the stage manager I was able to hang out with some great friends I hadnt seen in a good long while, it was great to see you all.
I managed to catch some great artists whilst waiting around for my show and it seemed the excitement in the room was building up to a very special evening. By the time I was ready to play the room was filled to capacity with folk sitting cross legged at the stagefront. It was an unbelievably great feeling to see so many ready for some action and to feel so much warmth from everyone present. Thanks to everyone there for making it an amazing show and I hope I get the chance to make a return visit next year.
On the way to Rebellion I was invited to play a show the following night opening for The Skids in Grimsby on the way to Scotland. It was certainly great to see the guys again, I think the last time we had run into each other was way back around 1986 during an Alarm rehearsal at Eezee hire studios in London. I had a great show and The Skids were absolutely superb. The band was firing on all four and the music was outstanding. It was an honour to be present and a thrill to be on the bill.
After an overnight drive North I arrived in Scotland for my first show at the Market Bar in Inverness to kick off my Highland run. It was going to be an interesting trip with a good number of new venues Id be visiting for the first time. Id like to send a huge thanks to Laurent at the Harbour Bar in Buckkie, Elaine and Jim at the Shore Inn. Portsoy and Simon and Paul from the Spin Bar in Aberdeen for making me feel so very welcome and for three very memorable shows.
Id like to make a special mention in dispatches and send a huge vote of thanks to Greig, from the ever excellent three peice band Uniform, who was amazing beyond the call of duty in helping to put this years Scottish run together, thank you Greig and Alex and Liam sending all great appreciation your way.
Well Im just about ready for an Autumn Winter run of shows kicking off with another trip to Devon followed by a visit South to Kent.
Along the way Im very excited to be making an appearance at The Great British Alternative Festival on Sunday October 6th. It looks like an amazing bill of artists and an excellent way to begin the shows leading to year end.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me during the Summer months and for making 2019 a Summer to remember.
Hope I see you all out on the road as we head on through the coming months. In the meantime keep the faith and sending peace and love to you all.
