Well I gotta tell ya folkes Friday evenin at the Bobbin was a pure joy to behold and for those of you that just couldn't make it do yourself a favour and keep January 17th clear...you ain't gonna regret it thats a fact. I took two steps inside the venue and got a real good feeling, the Bobbin is billed as one of the few remaining 'alternative' pubs in Lancaster town and the vibe was high. Dave was circulating amongst the crowd and seemed in top mood. OK I thought bring it on boys lets see wotcha got. The lads were to play two sets and as they ripped into the opening track (Drive these blues away I think, I could be wrong I'm still on a bit of a high!) I thought man these lads have really got something going on here with a bassplayer that could could double for the golfer Colin Montgomery, and Steven Spielberg on guiter they looked the most unlikely crew but folkes they were shit hot. It wasn't a case of three session players banging out Sharpys tunes, oh no these guys are seasoned professionals and each and everyone one of 'em adds something to the music ..just superb!. Ned I hate to break this to ya buddy but after beggin for Long Black Night for the past two years the band played a simply blistering rendition. Apart from the odd sign of early nerves Dave was clearly lovin it but had me laughin when a couple of tracks in he announced ''we're just rehearsin up here, man its our first gig and were shitting ourselves!'' classic. Millions Mister, a stunning version of Back on the right side, American Sky, In the City, and as for what we were comin to know as Faith don't fade away those lads were so funked up i got to thinkin there was 20 thousand watts of electrical shock pumpin through the system. More time travlin gems and as if Christmas had come early a dose of Stranger Blues before catchin the Mystery Train outta town.

Seriously guys this aint me banging out some sickophantic hero drivel. Dave and the lads are really dialled in and all I could think as I stood there in awe was man are we gonna have a good Gathering. The suicide Kids on a mission folkes so get on board that sunnyland train.

Manchester Roadhouse here we come!
