DAVE SHARP & THE DEPORTEES - A FULL BAND EXPLOSION!

What can i say! Mr Sharp was in high spirits last night and what fun we had in between sets.
A life long friend of Dave's (from when he was a wee boy in shorts) was at the gig, so there was plenty of banter going on.

The Deportees aka Saw Doctors/Levellers and anyone you could care to name in that bracket played with a rockin' upbeat tempo.
I've no idea what songs they played but they were excellent in the main. Played for 1hr from 9.30-10.30pm.

After a short break Davey Sharp took to the stage with The Deportees and what followed can only be described in a word "different!"
The opening track was an eerie affair. No introduction, just Dave on the mic with the band looking on waiting for the nod while Rob & Hank provided backing vocals. The pace s-l-o-w-l-y increased, and after a verse or two the guitar's finally got plucked and the band went into full mode. Here we were witnessing a wondrous version of the Johnny Cash classic "Folsom Prison Blues."

I'm not sure if anyone recorded the gig but that song alone captivated my soul!!

On that note i'll pass things over so Chrissie, Bobby & Margaret can add their own slice of the action...

Cheers, Robbo!
