On behalf of Dave, Mo, Paul & Keith, we'd like to thank everybody who came along to see Soul Company at The Bobbin, The Roadhouse & The Gathering, and to those who also supported Dave's solo appearance at The Gathering.

Although coming on stage just twenty minutes after doors open inevitably meant many people missed the opening song or two, the band really appreciated people making the effort to come in early and see them and as the hall filled, The Company were certainly finding their rhythm. By midway through the set, the room was almost full and the band moved into more familiar territory for Alarm fans with some tracks from Dave Sharp's first two albums. As their time drew to a close, the unofficial Soul Co theme tune 'The Power Of Soul' even had the enthusiastic crowd singing back the chorus.
Their time up, the band wished the crowd well and slipped off, but the audience had experienced the power of Soul and wanted more. They certainly got it, with a hard rocking rendition of Long Black Night which even saw a 'mosh pit' develop at the front of the crowd.
For the record, the full set went like this:

American Sky
Breakdown
Love Magic
Soul Devotion
Sugarland
Drive These Blues Away
The Ghost Of Preacher Casey
Back On The Right Side
In The City
The Power Of Soul
---------------------
Long Black Night

While the band packed their gear and slipped away for an Indian, Dave Sharp stuck around for one more performance. As Mike Peter's set drew to a close, Dave returned to the stage for a multi-guitar extravaganza featuring Dave, Mike Peters, James Stevenson and Big Country's Bruce Watson (with solid backing from Craig Adams & Steve Grantly). Blaze Of Glory, In A Big Country and Spirit Of 76 followed and closed the main performance.
Dave still hadn't had enough so despite leaving his guitars in his hotel room, he was soon to be found at the aftershow party in the St George's hotel giving impromptu performances on assorted fans' acoustics, interspersed with the usual mix of reminiscences and talk of the future.
