Don't forget, Dave Sharp solo plays The Deportees Club in Wellingborough, Northants tomorrow. If you are going to the show - enjoy!

Dave Sharp @ Deportees Club - 1 week to go 25 April 2004
It's now less than a week to go until what is likely to be the last opportunity to see Dave Sharp perform solo for quite some time when he takes to the stage at The Deportees Club in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, next Saturday (1st May).

Dave says ''I'll be letting myself go a little, keeping it very informal and somewhat of a
celebration - looking forward to lots of heckling and general abuse of the crowd (good natured with lots of humour of course)!!!''

The Deportees Club is a monthly club set up to bring the best in American, Folk, Acoustic blues and Country and Roots music to Wellingborough. Held at the town's 100 seat Castle Theatre, it has been an instant success, with each previous Deportees Club night having been a sell out. Advance tickets for this show have been selling well, and it is expected to keep up the sell out tradition.

Tickets are available (£7) from the Castle box office on 01933 270007 (ask for The Deportees Club).

Their will be two support acts for the evening. Bee Church, a Northampton based singer songwriter and Dan Britton, a Leicester based musician whose new album 'Journey to Love' was recently released on A New Day Records. Dan is a great singer songwriter reminiscent of Mike Scott/Waterboys type stuff. (www.danbritton.co.uk)

Full running order for the evening will be:
7.45 - Doors
8.05 - 8.25 - Bee Church
8.30 - 9.10 - Dan Britton
9.30 - 11 ish - Sharpy

In the next few days, we expect to confirm the first of a number of Soul Company gigs over the summer months. Things are looking exciting for Soul Company at the moment, so it is likely to be some time before Dave Sharp returns to solo performance.

Soul Co Live 1 Update 27 March 2004
The Soul Company would like to thank everybody who has pre-ordered the Live 1 album for their patience and would like to bring you all up to date with what's been happening with this much delayed project.

Originally Soul Co were planning on releasing Live 1 as a limited edition CDR for fans alone, to be followed by a four track studio EP for fans and promotional use. However on beginning mixing of Live 1, they realised that the recording was of better quality than they had ever imagined. They therefore decided to combine 'Live 1' and the proposed EP into a single project.

The recording and mixing has now been completed. Mastering of the recordings will take place shortly with the discs off to the manufacturer immediately afterwards.
We'll let you know as soon as we have a date when they'll be back and ready for dispatch.

Thanks again for your patience.

If you haven't already done so, you can order the album for immediate dispatch on release from Townsend Records by clicking here.

Dave # live with Joe D'Urso 10 February 2004
We've just been informed that Dave is to
join Charlie McIntosh supporting Joe D'Urso and Stone Caravan at The Hard Rock Cafe, Manchester tonight (10th February).

Doors at 8pm. Tickets £10.

Sorry for the short notice.

Soul Company at The Gathering 31 January 2004
On behalf of Dave, Mo, Paul & Keith, we'd like to thank everybody who came along to see Soul Company at The Bobbin, The Roadhouse & The Gathering, and to those who also supported Dave's solo appearance at The Gathering.

Although coming on stage just twenty minutes after doors open inevitably meant many people missed the opening song or two, the band really appreciated people making the effort to come in early and see them and as the hall filled, The Company were certainly finding their rhythm. By midway through the set, the room was almost full and the band moved into more familiar territory for Alarm fans with some tracks from Dave Sharp's first two albums. As their time drew to a close, the unofficial Soul Co theme tune 'The Power Of Soul' even had the enthusiastic crowd singing back the chorus.
Their time up, the band wished the crowd well and slipped off, but the audience had experienced the power of Soul and wanted more. They certainly got it, with a hard rocking rendition of Long Black Night which even saw a 'mosh pit' develop at the front of the crowd.

For the record, the full set went like this:

American Sky
Breakdown
Love Magic
Soul Devotion
Sugarland
Drive These Blues Away
The Ghost Of Preacher Casey
Back On The Right Side
In The City
The Power Of Soul
---------------------
Long Black Night

While the band packed their gear and slipped away for an Indian, Dave Sharp stuck around for one more performance. As Mike Peter's set drew to a close, Dave returned to the stage for a multi-guitar extravaganza featuring Dave, Mike Peters, James Stevenson and Big Country's Bruce Watson (with solid backing from Craig Adams & Steve Grantly). Blaze Of Glory, In A Big Country and Spirit Of 76 followed and closed the main performance.

Dave still hadn't had enough so despite leaving his guitars in his hotel room, he was soon to be found at the aftershow party in the St George's hotel giving impromptu performances on assorted fans' acoustics, interspersed with the usual mix of reminiscences and talk of the future.

Thanks to all those who have been leaving their reviews and for the kind comments in the guestbook, at the forums at www.thealarm.com, and on the Dave Sharp & Alarm discussion groups at yahoogroups (see below). Keep them coming.
